JAMPOLSKY, GERALD G. (1925- ). Popular psychologist and child and adult psychiatrist working within a Christian New Age framework. A Stanford Medical School graduate, Jampolsky advocates the use of love and forgiveness on psychological, social and spiritual levels as a healing medicine. For him, people must learn to let go of fear and guilt both to find inner peace and to live in the moment. He calls love our natural state of being. Jampolsky lectures and consults on transformation in government, issues of health, education and business, the areas of psychology and psychiatry, and life transitions. His thinking may be described essentially as New Thought, and he has been strongly influenced by A Course in Miracles.

Jampolsky’s original bestseller is Love Is Letting Go of Fear (1979). Among his fifteen books, there are also Teach Only Love: The Seven Principles of Attitudinal Healing (1983)—revised as Teach Only Love: The Twelve Principles of Attitudinal Healing (2000), Good-Bye to Guilt (1985), Love Is the Answer: Creating Positive Relationships (1990), Change Your Mind, Change Your Life (1994)—with his psychotherapist wife Diane Circincione, Forgiveness: The Greatest Healer of All (1999), and Shortcuts to God: Finding Peace Quickly Through Practical Spirituality (2000). Jampolsky is the founder of the Center for Attitudinal Healing in Tiburon, California. The Center, now with over 150 affiliates in twenty-eight countries, offers peace of mind and transformation training for children and adults facing life-threatening diseases. In 1982, he founded Children as Teachers of Peace and, in 1987 with his wife Dr. Cirincione, the AIDS Hotline for Kids.
